Here, “perennial” doesn’t just mean plants that come back every year. To me, perennial means ongoing gardening — the passion of tending, experimenting, and learning season after season, whether you’re planting annuals, biennials, or perennials. It’s about growing better each year through trial, error, and experience.
I started this site because gardening has always been more than a hobby for me — it’s a source of joy, creativity, and resilience. Over the years, I’ve grown everything from flowering annuals to hardy shrubs, and learned that the true reward is in the process: improving soil, testing new tools, and watching each season unfold.
My name is Cindy Wyckoff and I love, love, love to garden and landscape. When I was 9 years old, we were moving from our home in Iowa to Washington state. I remember that I had to go to all the trees in my yard and hug them. Yep! Actually hugged my trees and told them I loved them. Later, as a teenager, I would lay on the hill at school and look up at the beautiful mountain view and watch the puffy white clouds. You did that, too, right?
All my life I have loved the outdoors and flowers and trees and the beauty of nature. I’ve loved planting flowers that looked good together while giving me continuous bloom, creating raised vegetable gardens (which worked well because I hate to weed!), designing and installing the sprinkler system myself for the first home my husband and I bought, and creating my own landscaping plans.
My daughters and me – touring the Thanksgiving Point Ashton Gardens
I have been involved with the beloved annual Utah Hidden Garden Tour since 2001. The reason everyone loves the tour so much is because they get a chance to see amazing gardens that are hidden behind the homes in the back yard where you can’t see. I ran the tour from 2021 – 2024, and then turned the reins over to another dedicated and amazing gardener who is carrying on the Hidden Garden Tour legacy.
My mission with the Perennial Garden Club is to:
Whether you’re planting your first raised bed, hunting for the perfect garden shears, or building a compost bin, you’ll find step-by-step guides, honest product recommendations, and ideas to keep you motivated.
Perennial Garden Club is for anyone who loves to dig in the dirt, try new things, and celebrate each growing season. Explore the blog, get inspired, and connect with me on Pinterest for even more ideas.
That’s why I’m excited – and looking forward to seeing YOU in the Perennial Garden Club! Â
Here’s to gardens — and gardeners — that grow stronger year after year.
Here’s to YOUR success in gardening and helping you create your own outdoor heaven-on-earth!
